This 1955 copy of the BR(WR) Carriage Diagram came from the Paddington drawing office and was used in the 1960's by Les Wood and John Edgson. At about that time it was donated to the HMRS. Thanks must go to Simon Kelly who has scanned the entire 400 plus pages. The book is miniature (approximately 8.3 x 5.5 inches) and has been very well used. The first 5 pages are a Lot Index which gives the coach diagram for each lot built, but only if any of those coaches were still running when the book was produced. The oldest coach still running in October 1955 appears to have been built on Lot 217 to diagram O2. Lot 217 was completed in 1881, so would be 74 years old! The Second oldest coach was also built in 1881, but on Lot 241 to diagram G2. By 1955 it had been converted to an Inspection Coach and lasted until 1961. There then follows a 20 page Carriage Index which lists all of the coach numbers in use. Followed by the Van Index (Passenger Luggage Vans, Siphons, Milk Tanks), Carriage Truck Index, Horse Box Index and Service Vehicle Index. The whole of the book is presented here even though many of the vehicles are not covered elsewhere in this website since they are either post Collett or Non-Passenger-Carrying-Coaching-Stock. The original scans are too large to present here in one collection, so they have been resized to around 600 for this page. Full scale drawings can be viewed on screen by clicking on the drawings which you can print indiviually. If you want to see the original scans then please contact me. |
