1930-33 Cross Country Service stock had a similar profile to the co-built Tapered Side stock but was 3" narrower at the waist and 6" narrower at the cornice. Despite it not being necessary to keep within the loading gauge, the door handles were recessed like the contemporary mainline stock. However the guard's doors were built to the body profile and not recessed. With the exception of the H38 Composite Diner, which rode on 9' bogies, they rode on 7' bogies. The Composite Diner departed from the normal of having the kitchen in the middle and instead had it at one end, with the first class diners adjacent to it and the third class furthest away. |
